Welcome to The World Yacht Racing Forum
The event was a huge success and the overwhelming feedback from alomost 400 delegates was that the World Yacht Racing Forum has established itself as the 'must attend' event for the yacht racing industry.
This year, the Forum featured several debates and presentations across all aspects of the business of the sport. The Forum also heard from speakers outside the yachting industry including Daniel Miles, Head of Marketing at Puma, and Richard Moore CEO of agency Capitalize who gave a fascinating insight into the world of sports marketing and the position of yachting as a sport within the market. Other contribuitions included participation by Nick Fry, CEO of Brawn GP who joined Scott Macleod from the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour to dicuss how other major sports are governed.
Other highlights included presentations from Knut Frostad, CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race, and individual presentations from CEO of BMW ORACLE Racing, Russell Coutts and Brad Butterworth, President of current America's Cup defender Alinghi. Keynote speakers were double Vendee Globe winner Michel Desjoyeaux, and North Marine Group President Tom Whidden.
