Allesandra Panarese
Legal Advisor to AC Challengers Commission
Alessandra Pandarese, lawyer in Milano practising since 1986, and presently senior partner in Giordano-Pandarese Law Firm, has specialized since her university years in International and European law by graduating in international law with a thesis on international commercial arbitration. This internationally-oriented academic knowledge has been enhanced by “on field experiences” training at law firm in Brussels, at the Directorate General for Competition (DG IV) at the European Commission, and various experiences in EEC competition law, international private law, and business law.
She gained specific expertise in Sports law, sponsorship and related matters, organization and broadcasting rights in relation with sporting events, industrial and intellectual property matters and competition law, by acting as a counsel in this specific area from the late 1980s, and by taking part in the action related to the America’s Cup for 15 years covering many different roles. She has been Legal Counsel for different Italian Challengers in occasion of 1992, 2000 and 2003 America’s Cup (Moro di Venezia, the two Prada’s campaing and now Mascalzone Latino – Capitalia) .
She also played an institutional role in this field, e.g. she has been appointed in 2001 General Secretary for C.O.R.M. (Organizing Body for the Louis Vuitton Cup).
She performed a number of activities in the sport related matters, such as the negotiation and drafting of contracts of any kind, establishment of new legal entities, work contracts, sponsorship, merchandising, interpretation and application of sporting rules and keeping relations with the organizing entities, various bodies such as Trustee Committees,Arbitration Panel and America’s Cup Jury.
From 1986, active member of various International Lawyers Association (as part of organising teams and speaker at seminar and congress on sport laws and specifically on broadcasting rights), she is also been member of the Executive Committee of the A.I.J.A. Although being Italian mother tongue, she has an excellent command of both English and French.
