Having passed through the stages of yacht designer, racing yacht skipper, coach and crew as well as yacht racing magazine editor and yacht racing event manager, Marcus Hutchinson (47) has gathered over the last 25 years, as broad an understanding of the modern yacht racing business as anyone else today.
With the last five America’s Cups under his belt in media and communications Hutchinson is more than qualified to talk about the importance of press and TV and what is needed to make them work well for an event.
Since the end of the 32nd America’s Cup in Valencia in 2007 Hutchinson has beeen working for Sir Keith Mills’ Team Origin and the six-event 2008 Audi MedCup Circuit, in both cases in the capacity of Communications Director. Married to Meagan with two daughters Mea and Niamh, the Hutchinson family split their time between living in Valencia, Spain, Kinsale Ireland and Lyttelton, New Zealand.
