Welcome to the Yacht Racing Image of the Year 2011 presented by MIRABAUD.

2011 WINNER: Thierry Martinez

Over 5,000 people voted on Facebook and online for the winner of this years 'Yacht Racing Image of the Year 2011' Presented by Mirabaud and supported by Canon. The winning image was taken by French photographer Thierry Martinez; it features Nathan Outridge, Moth and 49er world champion, racing the Moth World Championships in Belmont, Australia in January 2011.

Thierry Martinez has been photographing yachts since 1987 and has covered almost every sailing discipline over the years from dinghies to the Volvo Ocean Race and the America's Cup. This is the second consecutive year Thierry has won the award.

About the Yacht Racing Image of the Year
Started in 2008, the annual 'Yacht Racing Image of the Year' is presented during the World Yacht Racing Forum in December to the photographer whose image best portrays the essence and excitement of yacht racing as a sport during the year. Photographers are invited to submit their images during the year which are then shortlisted by a panel of judges before being made available to a public vote.

The 'Yacht Racing Image of the Year' Award is announced during the annual World Yacht Racing Forum.
